Eco-living or eco-hobby

recycledfishdecal.jpgRachael “forced” me out today. She had a place in mind but didn’t want to tell me. I don’t like surprises or not knowing, so I bugged her until she told me where she planned to take me. We ended up at Dick’s Sporting Goods, where they were holding a large sale event in the parking lot. I had my doubts, but it turned out to be pretty cool and embarrassingly successful at making us spend our money. Interestingly enough, I had nearly the whole way there been sort of stunned at $4.00 plus per gallon of gas. Unreal.

We watched a demonstration of Craw-dad lures in a big tank of bass, watched people try out the kayaks in big shallow pool and visited a tent where a guy named “Finn” wanted to talk about “recycled fish” – huh? On the surface, it sounds like a plea to promote “Catch and Release”, but I was thrown when Finn handed me a coupon for a water saving shower head. Ecology touches every aspect of our lives, whether we’re laying on the couch cramming food in our faces or out on the water paddling or fishing or camping in the wilderness.

Have a look at the Recycled Fish website – whether you fish or not (though it will be more applicable and interesting if you do).

Cheers!
